About
Adam Sabree

I have been a practicing attorney in Detroit for over eight years with experience in both the public and private sectors. My legal career began as in-house counsel for a real estate company and has transitioned into my own legal practice at the Woodward Law Group, PLLC. My legal expertise spans multiple areas of law such as criminal defense, civil litigation, real estate, etc. I have also served as Assistant Wayne County Corporation Counsel for Wayne County where I managed litigation for all municipal departments including the Sheriff’s Office, Roads, Management and Budget, Land Bank, Prosecutor’s office, and Treasurer’s office. Importantly, I have successfully represented clients and won cases at the 36th District Court, 3rd Circuit Court, and Michigan’s Eastern District Federal Court.

Throughout my legal career, I have spent majority of my time at the 36th District Court, representing clients in legal matters, ranging from criminal and traffic to civil and landlord-tenant. I am familiar with the issues and solutions that exist at the 36th District Court. I understand that many societal issues such as poverty, limited literacy, homelessness, and reduced access play a critical role in the legal problems faced by my community. If elected, my awareness and experience with these matters will guide me in ensuring fair and compassionate justice.

As a native Detroiter and a K-12 graduate of the Detroit Public School system, I am a part of the community I am seeking to serve. As part of my private practice, I provide pro bono assistance for driver’s license restoration, expungement, and some civil and property tax matters. I am an Adjunct Professor at Wayne County Community College and I teach Criminal Justice and Political Science in Detroit Public Schools. In addition, I teach and mentor the youth in principles of teamwork, commitment, and leadership via The Family Basketball Organization, Team Detroit, and other programs.

I come from a long legacy of public service. My greatest inspiration is my great-grandmother, Daisy Elliott, who was the author of the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act. She was also a co-author of the current Michigan Constitution, where her work led to the creation of the Michigan Civil Rights Commission and the establishment of the Michigan Court of Appeals.

I earned my Juris Doctorate from Michigan State University College of Law in 2011, and my Bachelor’s in Marketing at Caldwell University, NJ, on a full athletic scholarship. At Renaissance High School in Detroit, I played on a nationally recognized basketball team, earning All-City and All-State honors. My wife, Dr. Sidra Ahsan, and I are raising our two children in Detroit.

My career is committed to public service, and it would be my honor to continue serving the citizens of Detroit as a 36th District Court Judge.
